Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a nose job, is a surgical procedure to change the shape of the nose to achieve a natural and aesthetic appearance compatible with the face. It also corrects breathing problems by fixing bone and cartilage curvatures (deviation) inside the nose.
Piezo (Ultrasonic) Rhinoplasty
Unlike traditional methods, the Piezo technique does not break bones; it shapes them precisely with ultrasonic sound waves. This results in: - **Less bruising and swelling:** Trauma is minimized as soft tissues are not damaged. - **Fast recovery:** Patients can return to their social lives much sooner. - **Millimetric precision:** The desired nose shape is created with greater accuracy.
Open vs. Closed Rhinoplasty
**Open Technique:** A small incision is made at the tip of the nose to lift the skin, providing full access to bone and cartilage structures. It is preferred for complex revisions and major shape changes.
**Closed Technique:** All incisions are made inside the nose. There are no visible external scars. Recovery time is relatively faster, but the field of view is limited.
Recovery Process
A thermal splint is placed on the nose for the first week after surgery. Swelling may peak on the 2nd or 3rd day but subsides quickly thereafter. Full recovery and the final shape of the nose can take 6-12 months.
