I'm traveling from abroad, how many days should I stay in Istanbul?
A stay of about 7-8 days is generally recommended for ethnic rhinoplasty. This allows time for the pre-operative consultation and tests, the surgery itself, and the removal of the cast along with a final check-up. The exact duration is confirmed by your surgeon based on your individual healing.
When can I fly after the surgery?
Flying is usually permitted once the cast or splint is removed, typically from around day 7. Early flights are discouraged because cabin pressure and swelling can affect comfort and healing. Always confirm the date of your follow-up visit with your surgeon before booking a return flight.
Can ethnic rhinoplasty be combined with another procedure?
Yes, when suitable, ethnic rhinoplasty can be combined in the same session with procedures such as septoplasty (correction of a deviated septum) or chin contouring. Combining these allows your facial proportions to be assessed and balanced as a whole. Suitability is determined through facial analysis and examination.
How does recovery progress for thick-skinned noses?
In noses with thicker skin and more active oil glands, swelling at the tip tends to take longer to fully settle than in other skin types. While noticeable results appear within weeks, the tip may need up to a year to fully refine into its final shape. This process requires patience and is supported by regular follow-up.
Can an online pre-assessment be done before traveling?
Yes, an online pre-consultation can be carried out using photographs of your face taken from different angles before you travel. This conversation gives you an idea of your expectations and general suitability. However, the definitive surgical plan is finalized only after an in-person examination and physical assessment.
